Music festivals all year round!
Umeå is the city for all sorts of musical celebrations – a good handful of niched festivals and others of a broader appeal. The festivals are spread throughout the year. Oldest of all is Umeå Jazz festival (jazz, blues, etc.). It has been held since 1968 and always boasts a high quality programme. Umeå Open (pop and rock) is Sweden’s largest indoor festival in any category and MADE (Music, Art, Dance, Experience) is the festival where, with no boundaries, various forms of expression come together and cross-pollinate each other.
The House of Metal festival draws black-clad and other metal lovers from all of Europe. Umefolk (folk and world music) offers concerts, dance and improvised meetings. Last but not least, the Holmön Song Festival (ballads, pop, etc.) attracts large audiences every summer to the small, beautiful island far out in the sea.
